Katsopahan tätä kukkasta. Se on krookus. Aika erikoinen sellainen. Se on krookus, joka nostaa kukaisen päänsä esiin myöhäissyksyllä. En tiennyt, että tällaisia onkaan, mutta niin vain tämä pilkisti esiin omasta puutarhasta.
Miksi se päätti alkaa kukoistaa juuri nyt, kun edelliset ovat nousseet jo puoli vuotta sitten ja seuraaviinkin on vielä sama aika? Kyseessä voi olla sattuma - sellainen luonnon sattuma, joka tekee luonnosta luonnon.
Look at this crocus. It's a rare kind, one that pops its head out in the fall. I have never thought there to be such crocuses. But apparently, there are such - at least this individual. Why did it want to come out in the open now, a half a year behind or ahead of schedule? It could be a simple coincidence. Nature doesn't always work according to predictions. And that's the beauty of it. Minusta kuitenkin tällä kukalla on sanoma.
Luonto käyttääytyy nykyään ihan hassusti. On joko liian kuuma tai liian kylmä, täysin kuiva kesä tai ukkosta keskellä talvista lumipyryä. Vielä minun lapsuudessani säätä pystyi ihan eri tavalla ennustamaan. Luonnonmullistukset aiheuttavat maailmalla yhä enemmän katastrofeja. Kukaan ei enää kiistele tosissaan siitä, mistä on kyse, ja ketä syyttää. On ihan selvää, että ihmiset ovat yhdessä keittäneet tämän sopan.
The flower could also be telling us about a more serious matter. Listen to it - it wants to be heard. More and more, nature is acting funny. The temperature is not only getting warmer, but more unpredictable, too. The summers are not what they used to be, the winters are, too, very different from what I remember from my childhood. Catastrophes happen more frequently around the world. There is no more dubt about who to blame for this. We, humans, are to blame.
Tämä krookus tuo viestiä. Se kertoo, että olemme potkineet luontoa jo aika paljon, ja luonto alkaa jo potkia takaisin. Tämä kukka ei potki, vaan sanoo sen kukkasin. Minusta se on hyvä tapa, ja menee kyllä ainakin itselleni perille.
Meidän kaikkien täytyy yrittää muuttaa tapojamme. Uskon, että kaikilla on siihen vielä varaa. Haastoin itseni ajattelemaan, missä minulla on parannettavaa ja mitä olen valmis tekemään.
Consider this crocus as a messanger. A lovely one with a serious message. Telling us that the order in nature has been disturbed and sooner or later, it will disturb us back. The flower uses the sweetest power it has to get this message through - flower power. A more effective type of power may not exsist. I believe that we all have to make an effort in saving the planet. There must be room in everybody's life for improvement, no matter what they do already. I challenged myself into thinking what I need to work on.

I will from now on show my love for the nature through these improvements in my faily life:1. Yritän panostaa nykyistä enemmän lähituotantoon. Uskon, että tavaroita kuljetellaan pitkin maailmaa aika paljon ihan turhaan.
1. I will put more stress in buying products made locally. I will thus on my part diminish the need for unneeded transport.2. Pitää yrittää pitää luomu mielessä. Luonnonmukainen viljely on paremmaksi luonnolle. Ja ehkä minullekin.
2. I will put more stress on organic products, and thus support more nature-frindly ways of production. 3. Asian konkreettisemmalta puolen: Yritän löytää lihaa järkevämmin pakattuna. Ostan kissoillemme aika lailla paljon lihaa marketeista, ja siellä se pakataan isoihin ja koviin muoviastioihin. Uskonpa noiden astioiden olevan suurin yksittäinen ei-kierrätettävä jäte roskasäkeissämme. Ennen lihaa sai ihan vaan tiskillä paperiin kääräistynä - olisi hienoa, jos löytäisin jostain lähistöltä kaupan, joka edellen harjottaisi tätä tapaa.
3. On the more concrete side of the matter, I'll try to find ways to buy meat packed in a paper rather than in a plastic container. Our cat's live mostly on raw meat and I therefore buy it quite often. The markets nearby don't have a meat counter with a person behind, only a selection of ready-packed meats - and that means I end up buying an awful lot of those boxes. That makes the biggest single non-recyclable section of garbage produced in this household.

Environmental issues are difficult. It's hard to avoid the tone of lecturing - and you may seem like you're only too perfect yourself. I hope I don't seem like that, at least I do not inted to. I only want to take part in Blog action day.
